Assistance League of Laguna Beach supports “Lifelong Laguna” a program of Laguna Beach Seniors. Laguna Beach Seniors is the hometown nonprofit that operates The Susi Q Center for seniors in the heart of downtown Laguna Beach.
Lifelong Laguna provides service and assistance to Laguna Beach seniors to help them remain in their homes safely and age in place. ALLB provided Amazon Alexa Dot devices to Lifelong Laguna members to enable them to communicate with Helpful Village, (a Website used to manage Lifelong Laguna operations). Specifically, the device will directly communicate with the member on information related to their health, appointments, scheduled events and more. As a result, members stay connected through technology at home and remain engaged in the community.
Through financial support provided by Assistance League Laguna Beach, Lifelong Laguna, was able to purchase 14 new iPads and cases for seniors in the community. We know how valuable a connection to the outside world can be through updated technology and these iPads will improve the lives of seniors in town!
More recently, ALLB has supported the “home modification assessments service” that reviews a home’s interior and exterior and suggest ways to:
- Reduce the risk of accidents
- Make performing household tasks easier, and
- Support living independently in one’s home.
And, during the December holidays, ten ALLB Members took on a Secret Santa role and provided holiday gifts to seniors. Seniors specified gifts that would be most appreciated and helpful, e.g., sheets, pajamas, nightlights, and the ALLB members happily accommodated their wish lists.
