The 2018 Las Vegas Book Festival announced its Crystal Bookmark Award Recipients at its opening reception on October 19th.  The awards recognize contributions made to encouraging mastery of the written, spoken and/or illustrated word to unlock the potential of residents in the Las Vegas and Southern Nevada area.

The organizational recognition was awarded to Assistance League Las Vegas – Desert Sage Auxiliary for its programs to promote reading and literacy. Desert Sage Pocket Books, provides books for children from under served populations to improve literacy, facilitate family experiences and build a child’s library.  More than 70,000 books were distributed in the 2017-2018 school year to Clark County School District elementary schools. Congratulations to our Desert Sage members who work so hard on this program.
