Deb Hamilton, our Very Valuable Volunteer(VVV) for September, joined Assistance League in 2015. She is described as always gracious, kind, smiling, calm, compassionate, professional and detailed. One member stated, “When I grow up, I want to be just like her.” Her commitment to helping children in need was quickly put into action when she assumed the Food for Kids co-chair position. She then became chair and has handled that role for two years. She is not only dedicated to Food for Kids, she also volunteers with Clothes for Kids, Community Outreach Committee, and serves on the Counting Committee at the Thrift Shop.
Deb goes above and beyond in every endeavor, including roping her husband, Fred Schilling, into helping at the Thrift Shop. No more hunting around for a stepladder, no more whiteboard falling on your head in the sorting room, no more lost clothing hooks, and no more missing brooms and mops. The gigantic mirror in the customer changing room is also now safe and secure. He has been a lifesaver for the Thrift Shop leaders, and we are so grateful to our VVV and VVV Husband, Deb Hamilton and Fred Schilling!
