In April we honored Joanie Larkin with the Very Valuable Volunteer Award! Joanie joined Assistance League in 2016 and not long after joining, she became actively involved. She jumped right in as Vice-Chair for one of our programs called Food for Kids, and frequently volunteered at the Thrift Shop. She soon became a day manager at the shop and then was asked to become a member of the Thrift Shop Management Team. She not only said “YES,” but said she was “HONORED!” Joanie ably organized the sorting room from top to bottom, creating needed storage space for nearly every item. She, also, utilized her excellent organizational skills by updating thrift shop procedural and pricing books. Her cheerful disposition, big smile, patience, and kindness are attributes that describe Joanie well in addition to her amazing organizational skills. We are so lucky to have this retired Nurse Practitioner with endless energy and enthusiasm as a member of our chapter.
