I am so pleased to announce this month’s VVV for numerous reasons; one being the many
nominations I have received for this individual.
This month’s Very Valuable Volunteer joined the AL in 2018 and became valuable right
away! It has been said: “How did we ever get this far without you? You continue
to amaze!”
She has taken on several roles of responsibility, helping us to keep track of ourselves, to
reward ourselves, to correct glitches on our website at all hours of the day or night and to
plan our futures in the Assistance League. How you ask?
One, she provided a thoughtful synopsis of the outstanding and commendable aspects of our Chapter, worthy of a marketing campaign, yet so genuine. Two, she helped to make sure that we do not have any open, unstaffed shifts at the Thrift Shop. She frequently sent emails to the Thrift Shop sub list, attempting to recruit volunteers to open spots in a clever way. Three, she was also co-chair of Placement, greeting all at the door of meetings, keeping track of attendance as well as teaching us how to track our hours and reminding us about reporting them. Moreover, she is continually developing innovative approaches to all of our systems–seeking opinions, teaching and building consensus. Four, she has taken on the task of calendar postings online which helps us all keep track of our AL commitments. Five, and yes, she has not stopped there…..she was additionally co-chair of the Placement Day—a significant undertaking, a moving target due to covid, but no match for her skills, tenacity, positive attitude and ever-present smile!
It has been said, whatever we need, she only knows the word ‘yes’ and she is ever so pleasant in everything she does!”
Wow, are we ever fortunate this VVV joined the AL! Please join me in congratulating this month’s Very Valuable Volunteer, Pat Kurt!
