This month’s Very Valuable Volunteer is actually a dynamic duo; one of whom joined the Assistance League recently, and the other has been sharing her many talents with us for quite a few years. For this award these two ladies were nominated for the incredible, almost herculean effort they devoted to the success of Clothes for Kids. This year our chapter clothed 2,213 students, specifically 15,491 pieces of clothing! And how many boxes of clothing?? 500-600 boxes!! These boxes do not magically appear in the appropriate location, lifted, open, arranged for distribution, and when emptied, cut down and readied for recycling so we are good citizens of the planet, and then inventoried, organized, wrapped and made ready for the trucks for transport back to the warehouse.
Although they admittedly are assisted, of course, by others, what these two accomplish with their BOXCUTTERS, at every single distribution day, start to finish, is invaluable! And they are so humble that one of them even tentatively commented that she hoped the AL would allow her to perform the same task next year. ABSOLUTELY!! Please join me in congratulating and saluting, no need from a safe distance as I do not believe they are armed with boxcutters today; Patty Daly and Judy Nagel!!!!
