Ada Edwards Laughlin Award: Terri McKeon, October 2024

The winner of the 2024 Ada Edwards Laughlin Award…

Terri McKeon

The Ada Edwards Laughlin Award is given to chapter members who have been a member for a significant number of years, and have given outstanding ‘behind the scenes’ service.  The award is named for a co-founder of Assistance League who was less visible but filled the role of ‘behind the scenes’ assistant to AL founder Anne Banning; in 1935, Mrs. Laughlin was instrumental in the development of Assistance League as a national organization.

This year, this very special recognition is being given to one of our chapter members.  She joined in 2004 and immediately jumped right in to work with our projects; she was also instrumental in starting one of our now-major programs, Food for Kids.

She has been a member of many committees over the years:  Hospitality, Food for Kids, Links to Learning, Open Your Heart, and Operation Graduation.  She has chaired Clothes for Kids, the Thrift Shop counting committee, Photos, Grants, and Finance.

She was the chapter Treasurer from 2006 to 2008.

THEN, she became chapter president in 2010.

Since then, she has been on the Technology committee, and at times, she was the entire technology committee.  In that area, she has ALWAYS been kind and generous with her time. And from her winter sojourn to California, she continues to share all her skills with us, whatever we may need.  Assistance League has always been a priority in her life.

Congratulations and much gratitude, Terri!
