It’s time to kick off our Open Your Heart fundraising season! This year, especially, we will be counting on OYH donations to help fund our philanthropic programs. We did a super job last year: our goal was $119,000 and we received more than $137,000! With a budgeted goal of $140,000 this year, we will need to throw our hearts into it.
We’re very excited about the $25,000 match offered to us by an anonymous donor. This match will double new and increased donations made by December 20, 2020.
Below are some answers to questions you might have.
Q1: I have already submitted a list of names/addresses to the Open Your Heart committee for donation invitations. When will I receive the materials for my handwritten notes?
A: If you turned in a list of names and addresses to the OYH committee, a packet of materials will be delivered to you. Many of these packets have already been delivered. The remaining packets will be mailed or delivered to you the week of October 19th.
Q2: I want to send donation invitations to my friends/family but I did not submit a list to the OYH committee. How can I get the materials?
A: You can contact Mary Scott at 952-239-9931 or jeffmaryscott@comcast.net to arrange to get them.
Q3: Do I need to request a donation invitation for myself?
A: No. All members will receive a donation invitation in mid-November.
Q4: May I forward the eblast donation request email directly to my friends/family?
A: Please do so only if your friends/family live in Minnesota. You may simply forward the eblast email to them in its entirety. If they live out of state, please do not forward.
Q5: May I ask friends/family who live outside of Minnesota for donations?
A: Yes, but you need to do it on your own stationery or in an email that you write. Please do not send an Open Your Heart donation invitation or forward the Open Your Heart email to them.
Q6: What donations qualify for the 1:1 match (or doubling)?
A: A new donation or an increase in a donation made by December 20, 2020 are both eligible.
- A new donation is defined as a donation that is made by someone who did not give last year.
- An increased donation is defined as the incremental amount donated above the prior year (i.e. if $100 was given last year and $150 was given this year, then the $50 increase portion would be eligible for the match).
