This VVV joined Assistance League in 2010 and she has focused the vast majority of her time and talents at the Thrift Shop, with a foray on the PR Committee tucked within.
Specifically, the result of her education, passion and efforts has been the phenomenal success of the displays and sales at our Thrift Shop.
This VVV has selflessly given countless hours of her expertise overseeing specific donations at the Thrift Shop. Her enthusiasm, professional brilliance and unwavering commitment to excellence has made the art program an unwavering success. She has been known to spend many, many hours researching and prepping our art pieces. She even reached out to another nonprofit organization to display and sell some of our unique art.
During the 2019 Art A-Go-Go event, this VVV supervised a large team of volunteers tasked with sorting, cleaning, pricing, and displaying hundreds of fine art pieces, art posters and sculptures. During this time, she offered one on one sessions with customers to share her expertise. Needless to say, this two-week event was a huge success.
During Covid-19, volunteers at the Thrift Shop are sending her photos of donated art pieces and she is researching and pricing from home. A marvelous adjustment making everything work with alternate conditions!
Outside of Assistance League, she has been a professor of Art History at Williams College in Massachusetts and DePaul University in Chicago. She was the art curator for Indiana University Museum and has led gallery tours in New York City and Chicago.
This VVV’s passion for art has inspired all of us! We are so blessed to have her as part of the Thrift Shop team.
Please join me in congratulating Emily Haliziw as this month’s Very Valuable Volunteer!
