VVV Lisa Lauson January 2021

This Very Valuable Volunteer joined the Assistance League in 2018, much to the benefit of our Chapter. She has served on ASK and Lit Plus. She has been described as kind, amicable, nice and empathetic by many, attributes that sound simple yet hold such considerable value.

As a literacy Plus reader she was very flexible, stepping in to take another student if hers was absent.  She was nonjudgmental of the students; always very pleasant and had a calming effect on the children. It is worth noting that when this VVV’s employment commitment changed, she made the decision not to forgo her involvement in the Assistance League but rather found a way to stay connected to and involved in the chapter. She assumed the Marketing Communications Chair position which she handles on her day off or in the evenings. That is dedication!

Some describe her as quiet, yet in her current role, she is the one our Chapter depends upon to communicate with one another. This role is arguably more vital than most years due to the pandemic and no face-to-face meetings. She is the one that gathers, collates, corrects, enhances etc. the newsletters and e blasts. And of course, members always submit articles on time and in the suggested format. Ya, right.. She is very patient and tenacious, working diligently to produce a quality and accurate product for all of us.

We also want to recognize her employment, coordinating social activities for residents at The Waters of Edina Senior Living. Given the pandemic, this industry has faced additional challenges and we salute our VVV for her care of these Seniors. Undoubtedly the diversions she is able to provide are of that much more value.

Please join me in congratulating this month’s Very Valuable Volunteer, Lisa Lauson!
