This month we are honoring two dedicated volunteers. First, a seasoned leader who joined Assistance League in 2002 and has held a wide variety of key roles over the years, and second, a brand-new member who joined us less than a year ago.
When the Chapter approved our moving forward with shopassistanceleague.com, it was clear that we needed a strong team, with great leadership and fine technical skills, to make it happen. We found that with these two members.
Beginning in December, the leader of the Ad Hoc committee had weekly meetings, developed processes and goals, and set schedules. Ambitiously, she set a go-live date of February 1. Enough can’t be said about her leadership of this team. She was, at every turn, well organized, thorough, motivational, inclusive, and open to team input.
Our second VVV organized and set up a dedicated backroom space for collecting, sorting, validating, photographing, listing and packaging items listed for sale online. She was so masterful at this that she gave a tutorial for other chapters at a recent meeting of AL cohorts.
Working with Aravenda, the software developer for the online website, they plowed new ground as one of the very first Chapters to test the software and online processes and set the standard for those who follow.
The online shopping site went live on February 1 with a celebratory launch party. These leaders were smart enough to list token items for sale to AL team members first, just to test the system before opening for the public. Kinks were discovered and, of course, solved. Then, the switch was flipped! We sold our first item that day!
Help us congratulate our February Very Valuable Volunteers, Cindy Stone and Kristi Pohl!
