This month’s Very Valuable Volunteer joined Assistance League upon retirement in 2013. She has had a long-time commitment to our philanthropic programs. She has chaired Academic All-Stars more than once and was coordinator of Clothes for Kids Minneapolis Distribution. Cheerfully took on the role of Chair this year, leading the Clothes for Kids team. She was the ideal person to lead this program during this time of challenge and change. She completely understands the complex needs of our partner school populations and what has led to changes from the single site distribution model to the bag delivery model and the Target retail model.
Despite being a program leader, she also finds time to volunteer at the thrift shop and has been a committee member of Links to Learning, and ASK. People who work alongside her will describe her as cheerful, willing, dependable, and a very hard worker.
As a leader, she sends thoughtful communication to our partners, and stays in close contact with volunteers to ensure our program is successful. She is great at celebrating the successes of others and collaborating with other program chairs. She is always willing to help or show up for one of their events if needed. Her growth as a leader has led her to take on the board position VP Philanthropic for next year. We look forward to seeing more success unfold under her leadership.
Let’s congratulate our April Very Valuable Volunteer, Doreen Robinson!
