The books, apples and flower centerpieces provided a school day atmosphere at the Fall Luncheon of Assistance League of Nashville. The fundraiser was held September 15 at Richland Country Club. A silent auction preceded the noon luncheon. “Almost” life sized photos of children in their new school clothes were placed around the room appropriately depicting the work of Assistance League volunteers.
Dr. Delila Duarte, principal of Casa Azafron Early Learning Center shared her experience of the positive effects having new clothes has on the self esteem and school readiness of her students. The mannequin appropriately named “Al” displayed the actual standard school attire given to students in need.
Local author, Peggy Peden, spoke of the need for and rewards of community service. She graciously signed copies of her first book, “Your Killin’ Heart”, a murder mystery based in Music City.
Members and guests perused and purchased many lovely items at the silent auction. “Music City Grace-notes” donated their talents to entertain guests as they mingled.
Special thanks to our corporate sponsors, auction donors, volunteers and guests who contributed to the success of this event.
