Assistance League of Northern Virginia again delivered another 400 grocery gift cards in September to the six elementary schools that had received our Weekend Food for Kids food bags before the pandemic. In April 2020, we pivoted to delivering the grocery gift cards because covid-19 restrictions precluded providing the food bags. Since then, we have provided 7,430 cards, with a value of nearly $126,000.
Assistance League members are proud that our chapter has been able not only to provide relief to struggling families at a time when needs have grown substantially while income has declined, but that we have found new recipients for our services and also pursued new fund-raising opportunities. Providing this level of support, however, has strained our budget and our chapter is seeking new supporters and encouraging long-time contributors to help us now so we can continue helping those most in need in our community. If you value our philanthropic efforts, please consider making a donation. Use the ‘Donate” button on this website, or send a check to: Assistance League of Northern Virginia, P.O.
