We are thrilled to launch our participation in the fund-raising challenge sponsored jointly by Mighty Cause and The Gannett Foundation. The first hurdle of the challenge, called A Mighty Cause: A Community Thrives, is to raise a minimum of $3000 between noon on July 18 and 9 pm on August 12. If we meet that goal, the Gannett Foundation will accept our grant application to fund our Weekend Food for Kids program. Through that program we deliver 1660 bags of nonperishable food each month during the school year to students at six elementary schools, and grocery gift cards to a seventh school. All seven schools receive grocery gift cards during the summer to reduce food insecurity for students and their families.
