On May 31st fifteen of our members gathered at Oakton Library to pack new books for students to read this summer. Our members applied labels, sorted the books into grade levels (Grades 1 through 6), and counted them: a total of 1,110 new books! We packed 15 boxes with 74 books each – for June, July, and August – and delivered them to 5 local elementary schools. We also packed boxes for the pre-K and kindergarten summer reading programs at a few of the schools. We hope the children enjoy reading new books during the summer.
