During 2024, Assistance League of Northern Virginia is proud to be celebrating our 20th anniversary of providing programs to support children in need. Throughout the year, we are offering a series of wish lists providing opportunities for the community to share in the celebration by purchasing items to benefit the children we serve. As we spring forward, our March wish list features sweatpants and leggings to help elementary students move into warmer weather with clothing that fits.
Despite the affluence in Northern Virginia, many families can’t afford new clothing as the seasons change. Spring has long been associated with new outfits to lift spirits and mark the transition of seasons, and your gift can give children in need the joy of new clothes and enhanced confidence and self-esteem. Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.

Bob Kovacs recently produced a brief video of our clothing program highlighting the variety of items provided to the eight Title 1 schools we serve. We have delivered more than 1000 clothing items this winter, including winter jackets, hats, gloves, sweat pants, long-sleeved shirts, underwear, and socks.
