Assistance League of Northern Virginia is again partnering with the Franklin Farm Social Committee for a combined Paper-Shred, Sneaker Collection, and Food-Donation Event on Saturday, April 22, from 10 am to 1 pm., in the Dairy Lou Parking Lot at 13501 Franklin Farm Road, Herndon. This event will yield triple bonuses. April 22 is Earth Day and just a few days after federal tax returns are due, making this is the perfect opportunity to dispose of your important documents safely and in an environmentally friendly way. Second, we’ll be collecting sneakers for our GotSneakers fundraising effort. Your donation of gently worn pairs of athletic shoes will help us raise money and will help the planet by keeping sneakers out of landfills. [No work boots, flipflops, Crocs, or metal cleats.] The nonperishable food items we collect will be delivered to the Community of Faith Food Pantry to help reduce food insecurity for the many struggling families in the area.
A donation of $10 or more is suggested (Cash or Checks preferred; Credit Cards accepted). Your donation will help the students and their families at the local elementary schools that we serve. Only paper items will be accepted for shredding. No plastic, aluminum, wood or metal. We reserve the right to limit quantities.
