Please support Assistance League of Northern Virginia’s Giving Tuesday campaign on November 28, 2023, to help children in need. This special day is designated to help people focus during the busy holiday season on providing resources for unmet needs in the community. Giving Tuesday is purposely scheduled to follow the post-Thanksgiving shopping events of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.
Assistance League’s programs operate throughout the year to help meet the needs of underserved children by providing food, clothing, toiletries, books, reading support, comfort pillows, and baby items for newborns. Our Weekend Food for Kids program provides 1,720 bags of food per month to students in six elementary schools in Fairfax and Prince William Counties and a seventh school in the City of Alexandria receives grocery gift cards. We also provide gift cards over the summer when schools are closed and ‘emergency’ grocery gift cards during the school year to those eight schools. Our New Clothing for Kids program provides clothing throughout the school year, including shirts, sweatshirts, pants, underwear, socks, sneakers, winter coats, gloves scarves, and hats. These efforts are a small part of what our all-volunteer organization does to help children and families in need.
We have continued to expand the assistance we provide, but to sustain those efforts and grow these programs we need your help. Our theme for Giving Tuesday this year is Help Kids in Need So They Can Succeed. Visit our website www.alnv.org to learn more about what we do and see how a contribution on Giving Tuesday can help kids in need.
