Our Numbers Tell Our Story
We’re proud of the hard work we do to support the Reno-Sparks community. The numbers below are for fiscal 2023-2024.
Helping Children
Links to Learning provided $400 awards to 200 teachers and initiated new program of $10,000 awards to six schools. Provided books for 15 school libraries.
Operation School Bell hosted 30 shopping events for 2,681 elementary students. Filled clothing closets at 34 elementary and 14 middle schools, serving an additional 3,050 students. Supplied books to all students at three elementary schools.
Read to ME benefitted 3,665 preschool-aged children with one-on-one reading sessions and gifted new books to 3,607 children to take home.
Students in Transition gave 260 high school students clothes, school supplies, grooming kits, academic fees, books, and/or scholarships.
Providing for Our Community
Emergency Assistance provided clothing for 54 refugee children. The committee also provided bus passes and thrift shop vouchers for refugee families.
Essentials supplied pver 6,200 children, seniors and community partners with personal grooming items. Holiday gifts and summer swimming supplies were provided for Kids Kottage. Thirty assault survivor kits were also assembled and provided to victims.
Re-Share donated excess Thrift Shop goods to 11 local nonprofits, benefiting approximately 20,000 individuals.
Scholarships provided 33 scholarships to TMCC for underserved, unconventional students to achieve their educational goals.
Veterans Outreach Initiated new programs to further support veterans at the VA’s Community Living Center, including monthly Veteran of the Month celebrations and monthly Coffee and Art sessions. Provided coats and duffel bags for 250 homeless veterans at the Stand Down.
Supporting Our Seniors
Food Pantry distributed two bags of supplemental groceries to 321 seniors each month, including 45 home deliveries.
Senior Sampler provided an opportunity for 236 senior crafters to earn supplemental income by displaying and selling their handcrafted items.
