Join Assistance League Reno-Sparks. We Need Volunteers!

Assistance League Reno-Sparks is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that makes a difference in our community through 11 philanthropic programs that benefit children, seniors, veterans, and victims of abuse. More than 370 members volunteer over 55,000 hours every year. Yes, this is a strong working group of men and women!

What kinds of volunteers are needed? You’ll be amazed at where you might fit in. Some volunteer activities are obvious – we need people to work the front and back rooms of our Thrift Shop, which helps fund our programs. But there are many other opportunities. We need help in our accounting department, food pantry, grant writers, marketing team, technology team, office, and Senior Sampler Gift Shop, to mention a few. We need volunteers throughout the year to help stuff Essentials kits, run Operation School Bell®, help our Veterans, and much more.

If you want to do something meaningful with your time, check out Assistance League. Make a difference in your community by sharing your enthusiasm and extending a helping hand while making new friendships that will last a lifetime.

Membership Levels and Requirements

There are two ways to join Assistance League:

  • If you are retired or working part time, we recommend full Assistance League membership. You will need to attend an in-depth orientation that will give you a great overview of our programs. You shall also attend chapter meetings on the morning of the second Monday of each month (August through May) and have the privilege of voting, holding office and committee management roles. Voting members pay annual chapter dues of $75.
  • If you are working full-time or close to it, we offer our Charmanta Auxiliary, which meets on the evening of the second Monday of each month (August through May). Many of our programs are run by Charmanta Auxiliary members, including our Veterans Outreach, Essentials, and Students in Transition. Auxiliary members are non-voting and also pay annual chapter dues of $75.
