Caring Hands, a committee of the Assistance League of San Jose (ALSJ), crochets, knits, and quilts blankets, hats and booties for donation to the newborn section of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Each mother and child leaving VMC receives a layette packet including those items and a onesie, all tied with a decorative ribbon and ALSJ tag.
At this year’s Halloween celebration, about 30 Caring Hands members enjoyed pumpkin cake and other treats as they socialized for a few hours. Items which the members had made at home during the month were brought to the celebration, where nearly 200 layettes were packaged for delivery to VMC.
