Client L Background: Client L is a 14-year-old physical therapy client with a muscular disorder. He has very weak muscles throughout his body, making self-help, speech, and play difficult in typical environments. Client L loves to engage the therapy team in a “hunt for mom” game where we search for her all over the Center including in the fairy gardens and arena obstacles.
Client L Update: Client L is slowly progressing and more participatory during sessions as he gets stronger holding his trunk control and using his hands in more useful positions for balance, he also becomes more confident to try more difficult tasks. During transfers it is noted that he is able to push further up into standing to be placed on his horse and is showing better pushing up into standing from his stirrups which adds a large balance component as well. His arm strength and shoulder strength are emerging again, being able to hold his arm out to participate in games during session as well as daily activities and dressing.
