Las Profesionales
Las Profesionales is an auxiliary of the San Pedro-South Bay chapter of National Assistance League®. Founded in 1992, the primary goal of Las Profesionales is to hold fundraising events that support all the charitable programs of the chapter. Meetings and functions are held in the evenings and on weekends to enable women who are employed to participate. Besides supporting the chapter, Las Profesionales charitable programs include the assembly and distribution to hospitals of Assault Survivor Kits and scholarships for forensic nurses, the first scholarship of this type to be offered in the United States.

Dues
The fee for participation as a member is $100 for the first year and $80 per year thereafter. (National Assistance League dues are included) Other financial obligations are to purchase a ticket to the annual fundraiser, A Day at the Races, held the first Saturday in May, and to acquire a minimum donation of $50 for the silent auction.
Membership Requirements
Members are required to volunteer their time for our fundraising and charitable projects. A minimum of 20 hours a year is requested. Day at the Races, held at Santa Anita Racetrack in May, is our major fundraiser. All members must help with one of the many committees that work to make the fundraiser a success.
Members also volunteer with Las Profesionales’ two charitable programs, Assault Survivor Kits® and the Forensic Nursing Scholarships.
Members attend monthly Las Profesionales meetings. Meetings are held at the Chapter House on the third Wednesday of each month, except in July, August and December. Meetings include a social time at 5:30pm with refreshments and an interesting speaker before the business meeting convenes. Volunteer hours are earned for attending meetings.
Our members may also volunteer at the chapter’s gift shop, dental center, post office, Weaver’s luncheons, Assisteens®, Holiday Boutique, and special events.
