On Sunday, April, 3, 2016 Assistance League® of Victor Valley indeed Made Magic in the Desert.
With Joanne Lamb, as the event chairman, they started with an empty ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn and converted it into an enchanted island oasis. The title of this fundraising event was “Come Make Magic in the Islands” and indeed they did.
The guests started the afternoon with greetings, chitchat, and obtaining opportunity tickets for the beautiful baskets and a wine pull. Then came a sit down lunch prepared by the Hilton Garden Inn staff with the highlight being desert
The program was opened by a welcome from Kathie Bordonaro, Assistance League® of Victor Valley President. This was followed by a segment, narrated by Delia Itanen, Assistance League member that showcased and explained the “MAGIC”. As she explained “The MAGIC” STARTS with money, donations, sponsorships, support from our community supporters, and our thrift shop customers. Then this MAGIC Is CONVERTED by Assistance League of Victor Valley volunteers into golden opportunities for assisting those in need in our community. To enhance the understanding of the programs Assisteens, an auxiliary group of teenagers walked the runway showcasing each program and on the projection screens, we saw the MAGIC RECEIVED, smiling faces of those who benefited from the programs.
The fashion show offered beautiful summer clothes from Macy’s of Victor Valley. The models, all members of Assistance League of Victor Valley included Rosanne Smith, Camille Ward, Mary Ann Huff, Linda Elliot, Carol Shows, Kathie Bordonaro and her 4 year old granddaughter Camryn. Beautiful ladies ready for a vacation trip. That is what is wanted and needed for a Magical Vacation on any of the world’s islands.
The afternoon ended with Aloha’s and thoughts of vacation time and Magic.
