The Adult Health and Wellness program began during the pandemic in 2019 as a way for our members to serve the community by doing work in their own homes. With the help of College of Sequoias’ textile instructors, Assistance League received donations of fabric from Joanne’s Fabric to sew clothig protectors for the residents of adult care facilities. The sewing could take place at members’ homes and therby avoid exposure to Covid19. Once Covid restrictions lifted, members met at COS textile classroom to enjoy sewing together. Adult care facilities always need clothing protectors and welcome our donations.
Our second adult program helps brings smiles to the sometimes long days for residents of adult care facilities. Holiday and “thinking of you” cards are distributed to all residents of a facility monthly. The cards are written by members and delivered to facilities in Visalia. The staff and residents all enjoy the cards and we hope it brighten their day.
