Welcome prospective Assisteens member.

Thank you for your interest in joining Assisteens of Visalia. By joining us this year, you will be a member of our inaugural group and will play a key role in launching this exciting new organization.

We are an auxiliary of Assistance League of Visalia and a member of the national Assistance League. We welcome male and female teens from grades 9 through 12. The goals of participation are to gain experience in community service while building practical skills in organization, public speaking and leadership. Along the way teens often build lasting friendships through their collaboration and engagement in the programs chosen by the members.

Assisteens raise money to fund ongoing philanthropic programs to benefit the community. Members will plan and implement programs of their choice. These might include assisting with existing Assistance League programs such as providing clothing to students in need or painting US maps on elementary school playgrounds. Other ideas may be mentoring students, supporting foster children, starting a community garden, helping at an animal shelter, providing meals for homeless shelters, visits to seniors and reading programs.

Monthly meetings are held during the school year and are conducted by members with support from Assistance League members and parents. Members will plan ways to serve those in need and then implement those plans at activities that take place throughout the school year, outside of regular monthly meetings.

Attached is an Assisteens Application form, Obligations of Membership,

Adult Responsibilities for Participation in Assisteens, and agreements.

Each Assisteen is required to fulfill these obligations to continue membership

in the organization.  In addition, all members are required to attend regular monthly meetings which are held on the first Monday of the month at 7:00pm.  Any member having more than (2) two excused and (1) one unexcused absence may be dropped from membership upon review by the Assisteens Governing Body and Assistance League Board.

Student applicants will need to complete the attached application. It needs to be signed by a parent/guardian.  Applications (page 3-6) must be mailed to Assistance League of Visalia, P.O. Box 4108, Visalia CA 93278.

The Parent/Guardian Responsibilities for Participation in Assisteens form must be read, signed and returned with the application. To make your teen’s experience in Assisteens the best it can be, there are certain responsibilities that we ask the parent/guardian to accept to ensure the safety and success of your teen. Please make sure that your teen carefully considers his or her decision to become an Assisteen..

We look forward to your involvement in launching this organization of leadership and philanthropic work in the community.

Form needs to be filled out by the applicant. Please write legibly when filling out the application. Email address must be a home address, only.
